AUGUST
3605 CHAPEL HILL ROAD
EDITOR'S NOTE: PRAY IT FORWARD! Some of us remember the movie where the young boy was encouraged to "pay it forward". When I was praying the other day I was thinking about all the things we have been praying for at Jubilee. Then I believe the Holy spirit brought to me the thought to "PRAY IT FORWARD!" I know that we have been praying for what God wants us to do in this congregation. Maybe by praying it forward we can be brought into a deeper fellowship with God for each other and for Jubilee. Picture all the people lined up to get in on Sunday morning. That's a start. Lois . TAKE THE CHALLENGE
Saturday, August 28, 2010, 10:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m.
We’ve opened the church building to the community to come on in and sew for ConKerr Cancer. People are needed to cut and press fabric, sew or serge the pillowcases together, and to fold and package the finished products.
If possible bring your serger or sewing machine.
If you cannot come on the 28th but want to make a pillowcase directions can be found at www.ConKerrCancer.org or www.allpeoplequilt.come/millionpillowcases.com And you can drop the finished pillowcases off at the church in a basket in the hallway outside the door to the church. American Patchwork & Quilting has challenged quilters to make one million pillowcases in 2010. A pillowcase can provide comfort for a cancer patient, hope for a foster child, encouragement for a battered woman, or beauty for a nursing home resident. Pillowcases made at Jubilee will be donated to ConKerr Cancer for boys and girls ages 2 thru 17 thru the Quilt Shop, 1818 S. Rose Farm Road, Woodstock. Donations of “kid Friendly” 100% cotton fabric will be appreciated. Each pillowcase needs ¾ yard for body and 1/3 yard for border. Monetary donations are also welcome. These will be used to purchase fabric for upcoming events.

WES McREYOLDS PRAISE GOD FOR: Those recovering: Lori Niemeyer Dana Pitel
SMILE Direct Approach Pastor Dixon had a problem; he had to ask the congregation to pledge more money for church repairs than they anticipated. On his way to the chancel, he asked the organist to be ready to play something suitable for the pledging. At the appropriate time, Pastor Dixon announced, "Brothers and sisters, we are in great difficulty. Our roof repairs have run $5000 over the estimated cost. That means we must raise that amount this morning. Any of you who are willing to increase your original pledge, please stand up." At that very moment the organist tore into "The Star-Spangled Banner." And the whole congregation stood. JULY OFFERINGS: $3,105.00 |
